Summary:
This capstone project’s goal is to determine an industry-wide agreed-upon metric(s), represented as dependent variable(s), to characterize the full-truckload business cycle and determine appropriate exogenous factors that predict these cycles. Ultimately, our research will be used to predict shifts within or between business cycles and prepare for fluctuations in trucking capacity and demand. We aim to identify a single or a set of dependent variables(s) that describes the truckload industry’s business cycles, determine the correlated exogenous factors, and forecast the timing of future cycles.
